Amazing nose of gunpowder, minerality, light oak, lime, pear and apple.
Same thing in palate where light butter is added and a fine acidity

I went to this winery 22 years ago & met Alain Gras in this very small village St. Romain just behind Auxey Duresses
This time I was attended by his young adult son & the tasting was marvelous
Eyes- Limpid, ruby red with a hint of garnet on the lip with gorgeous & plentiful tears
Nose- Jams of forest red berries, cranberries, raspberries, violets with hints of truffles & noble woods
Mouth- Warm, complex, very long, all the aromas confirmed with some slight liquorice at the finish
Harmonious & very balanced
Enjoy!

My favourite Chardonnay so far ❤️ Aromatic, refreshing, flowery, superbly balanced in terms of acidity and oaky flavours.

Beautiful... chalk, green apple, pear, lemon, butter and vanilla. Zesty and alive with high acidity and a clean finish.

I had trouble understanding this wine. 1st sip - wow! 2nd sip - don’t understand! 3rd sip - is that burnt petrol. But when you go to order a different wine you are inclined to order a second! I don’t understand this one but I’m still intrigued!

I would bet this was an older vintage but this is only from 2020. French oak is pronounced with nuts, butter, oil, vanilla and some peach and watermelon taste. Very structured and complexed.

100% Chardonnay from Auxey-Duresses with 12m ageing in SS vats and 100% new FO barrels (70/30).
Pale lemon color.
High intensity on the nose.
Aromas of cut grass, herbaceous, fennel, tarragon, oregano, butter, clay, black pepper.
On the palate dry, med+ acidity, alcohol well integrated, med. body, long finish, pronounced flavour intensity.
Powerful, but not very elegant.

Open Bottle Day, Young Charly, Antwerpen. Next Burgundy white from Alain Gras, one year younger, different place and a very different wine, this more to the herbal side at first, but quickly evolving to exotic fruits and spices. 4.2⭐️

Quite restrictive on the nose with a subtle fruitiness, toasted coffee and just a whiff of mature cheese.
The palate is well balanced with tones of orchard fruits, citrus such as lemon and white grapefruit, a subtle buttery streak, as well as chalky minerals and a hint of vanilla. Good intensity fruit wise and a textbook use of oak; just by means of careful seasoning. 4.2.

Decent drinking wine. Good character with Med acidity. Slightly “sharp” for my palette. Good value for quality . Should have probably chilled the bottle a bit more.

4.2 Very impressive – great value for money. Lots of complexity and a nice level of minerality without being overly saline. Well-balanced and nice to drink.
