From last night's Grand Cru Society dinner event, theme of 2010 Bordeaux. A great vintage in Bordeaux in every appellation. Wines produced were generally robust, structured and tannic wines. Tasted these all blind, we knew the 8 wines but not the order.
Wine #2 was a new producer for me, from Pessac-Léognan. Previously grapes were blended into wines from Château Haut-Smith, until a somewhat recent shift to release under the Le Thil label. Notes of black and red berries, mushroom, black tea and graphite.

90 Points, drink now until 2023. Medium deep ruby, small rims. Nose of red berries and bitter almond, chocolate and hazelnut, tobacco and cherry, coffee and smoke, followed by earthy characters and also a bit lactic. Very nicely balanced with chewy acidity and medium complex, medium bodied and finishing medium plus with very pleasant reminiscents. Great, great left bank value!

Really really good, usually not a French wine lover but this was juicy and not dry, like a good marriage between a Cab and a Pinot!

Red Bordeaux #2 at the 2010 Grand Cru Tasting on 2/6/23.
Cherry, plum, cedar, tobacco, basalmic. Integrated tannins and a long finish.

Normally not a fan of such wines but this really changed my mind. Not heavy, but great fruit flavors. Great with food or alone.

Forward aromatic, youthful, vanilla oak - typical of 2009. On par with the 2010.
Curve ball red of evening - tail end to the Pichon and La Gaff (blinded), contrasted well, did not disappoint.

Perfect wine for us. Complex, dark fruit with firm structure and fair amount of terroir. Can get a bit of forest floor , bell pepper. Nice acidity with long dry finish. 1/13/19
